Once Upon a Time in Cannes…

The sixty-eighth edition of the Cannes Film Festival closed out on Sunday and left behind a lot of beautiful memories and again great prize winners, growing the list of those being awarded the Palme d’Or, Le Prix Jury, Le Grand Prix or la CamĂ©ra d’Or. Every year in May, the whole world turn their eyes on the French Riviera, where we discover exceptional movies selected, presented and judged by experts. Exceptional are also those who take our breath away with their performances, I mean, of course, all brilliant actresses and actors in their most beautiful outfit.

Since 68 years, this festival makes the whole world dream, but his fate could have been completely different. In fact, there were talks about creating a festival dedicated to the art of cinema in the city of Biarritz. The city owes its fabulous destiny owner of the largest palace of the time, which made his connections among politicians in power. In 1939 though everything was organized, the first edition never saw the day. Blame to the Second World War … It was not until 1946 that the festival was born in a certain euphoria. Michelle Morgan and Brigitte Bardot saw it as their celebrity potential to expand, Grace Kelly, who was presenting ‘To Catch a Thief’ by Alfred Hitchcock met the Prince Rainier of Monaco, whom she fell madly in love, and Sharon Stone who literally became a star right after the projection of ‘Basis Instinct’.
